Recovery isn’t treatment. It’s the life which incorporates what is learned throughout time in treatment and practices sobriety. So, your recovery journey is not over once treatment concludes. While treatment is effective in helping addicts stop using drugs or alcohol and gaining the knowledge needed to remain sober, the risk of relapse is still very real once drug and alcohol treatment ends. Aftercare programs allow individuals to keep up with what they’ve learned in recovery and get additional support along the road to established and long-term sobriety. After all, it’s proven that the longer individuals work on their recovery, the better their chance at remaining sober.
Aftercare addiction programs can range from intensive solutions to weekly group meetings. And, it can differ for each person in recovery. No one’s walk with addiction or sobriety is the same. So, aftercare solutions should be tailored to meet the specific needs of each individual. Here at Mountainview Recovery, we understand the necessity for both individualized addiction care and aftercare solutions. So, we customize aftercare opportunities for each individual enrolled in our program. However, most people who want to take advantage of aftercare programs can expect:
IOP: The first stage of treatment aftercare is the intensive outpatient program. During this program, individuals can take advantage of a number of therapeutic outlets, medication support, and all other rehab services our facility has to offer. Since this program is outpatient, those enrolled must seek supportive housing or live from home during the duration of the program.
Individual Therapy: These are one-on-one addiction counseling sessions with addiction therapists who specialize in cognitive behavioral therapy approaches. This evidence-based therapy allows individuals to both identify and confront the underlying causes of addiction so self-harming behaviors can be fixed, and wellbeing can be obtained.
Sober Living: After a treatment program concludes, it’s helpful to keep up with recovery efforts by surrounding the self with a support system and those who can hold sobriety accountable. Sober living environments provide both to individuals in the days of early recovery by offering a place of residence with a focus on sobriety. Those living in sober living homes get the freedom to live out their lives by attending work or school yet still receive motivation to remain sober by participating in weekly meetings and complying with house rules.
12 Step Meetings: Group support is a great tool when it comes to maintaining sobriety. With twelve-step meetings in recovery aftercare, individuals can share in their accomplishments, be held accountable by peers, and share personal experiences. These support meetings are a great way to keep on track with recovery goals and keep a focus on sobriety, no matter how much time in recovery a person has.
