I transferred to Mountainview Recovery after a month of rehab at a different treatment center. I found that the two... centers were very different in their approach to recovery, as well as how the staff treated me as a client. From my very first day, I was treated like family at Mountainview. Through daily classes and psychotherapy, I gained the knowledge that I needed to maintain my sobriety. I came to understand why I had an addiction & eventually found the strength that I needed to return to my normal life without relying on a substance to escape. The house is beautiful & managed by staff that go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Food was provided with weekly gift cards so we could eat what we wanted. Most of us made meals together. We had meetings by the fire pit & went on weekly hikes. I am so thankful for the lifelong connections & friendships that I made at MVR.I am stronger & happier now than I have been in decades. I wake up each morning with purpose & a sense of hope. I give Mountainview so much credit for my recovery. I could have never done this on my own.read more

Freda Woody - Registered Nurse

BSN; RN

My name is Freda Woody. I am native to this area. My family have been here for over four generations. I live on a small farm with my husband, Steve. We have over 20 goats (I have been known to bring bottle babies to work in a laundry basket and on a heating pad) and 50 chickens. Our Great Pyrenees dogs, Bristol & Nickel keep predators away from our farm. We also have a Boxer named Rocky, a manx tortishell cat named Gabby and a Senegal parrot named Dexter. We have an antique booth is Asheville, so we are auction, estate sale and yard sale champions. We enjoy doing anything together! I did not get married until age 46, but boy, did I latch onto a winner!! We have a camper on Lake Cherokee in TN and even enjoy going there in the winter. We are very supportive of our local 4 -H  and FFA chapter. We are members of Turkey Creek Baptist Church in Leicester.
I attended AB Tech for my LPN and RN schooling. I graduated from Lee’s McRae College as an adult learner and obtained my BSN in my early 50’s. Nursing is all I have ever wanted to do. My mama watched General Hospital when I was growing up and I was on awe of Jessie Brewer, R.N. I loved watching her pin on her nursing cap in the nurse’s longue on the 7th floor. So, in essence, my profession was decided by a soap opera! I can remember loading hay onto a trailer when I was little. When we got to the end of a row, we got a little rest, as my Papaw turned the tractor and hay trailer around to head back the other way. I spent my few minutes of rest by giving the seed pods of a bull nettle a shot with a briar from another weed. I never had to practice giving an injection while in nursing school, because I already had it down pat!

Jessi Davis - Licensed Acupuncturist

L. Ac

Jessi is a licensed acupuncturist in North Carolina and is nationally certified in both acupuncture and Chinese herbology by NCCAOM. Jessi received her Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts in Asheville.

She has undergraduate degrees in Outdoor Recreation Leadership and Outdoor Education. Jessi was an outdoor adventure guide for 11 years. This is where she first discovered her “medicine.” She loves how much healing happens when she sees people getting outside, moving, and having fun.

Jessi believes movement is medicine and wants to provide the offering of Chinese medicine to the community to help relieve physical, mental, and emotional ailments that may be limiting a person’s ability to move around and enjoy their lives.
